The Must have Pieces of Equipment for Your P90X Workout
So what type of equipment do you need to have on hand for a P90X workout? Here’s what you need to know about the right tools to be a success in this program.
P90X creater Tony Horton designed the 12 workouts that come with the program to be something that could be performed at home with just a few simple pieces of equipment. no need for an expensive Bowflex, Total Gym, or Bio Force TNT that costs thousands of dollars. with the help of the P90X program, you will get to where you want to be with your physical condition.
What makes P90X different than most other in-home workouts is that Tony Horton utilizes the muscle confusion principle. This is probably the first home workout advertised on an infomercial that has introduced America and for that matter the world, to this valid training protocol.
With the series of videos provided in this program, within 90 days you will get ripped beyond belief. Believe it or not, it does work!
Here’s the list of equipment that you’ll need to complete your P90X regimen:
- Several resistance bands that are strong
* Push up stands or a perfect push-up
In place of the resistance bands, you can purchase a set of dumbbells. unfortunately, you will have to buy multiple sets unless you want to be changing plates. You can purchase the Bowflex Select Tech Dumbbells, but they are not cheap!
For just under $400, you can get the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells, which can give you anywhere from 5 to approximately 54 pounds of resistance. a good set of resistance bands, like the Bodylastics Terrel Owens bands, can provide anywhere from 5 to 249 pounds of resistance. Also, these cost around $100, which is much less in comparison.
So whats the the best P90X needed equipment?
I personally prefer resistance bands, not only because of the lower price, but because they are portable, adaptable and more versatile than the set of dumbbells. Anyone who is in the market for a nice set of resistance bands should look at these two options: Either the Golds Gym Resistance Bands or the Bodylastics Home Gym will meet all your needs. Of the two the Bodylastics offers more options.
Now, turning to the chin-up bar. You can find several good options here, even if you don’t want to spend much money. You can use the resistance bands to do pull downs, instead of doing chin-ups or pull ups. Or you can purchase a simple doorway chin up bar for around $20, and it will work just as well as the $50 P90X chin-ups bar.
What about those push-ups – will you really need to use the stands or a set of perfect push-ups? The answer is it depends. both of these items will reduce the strain on your wrists and allow you to go deeper in your push-ups on the other hand, you can do push-ups between two chairs and get the same results. no matter the route you opt to go, you can just pay around $30 for whatever set you look into.
The incredible part is, that utilizing this type of equipment into your muscle confusion workouts makes complete sense from a space and money standpoint.
In terms of P90X workout equipment, that seems to run through all of your options; floor mats are also advisable if you want to perform ab exercises.
