There are 3 iTunes. One is the icon on your phone, another is the icon on your computer, and the third is the web-site. And this confuses many users.
If your phone is new or a refurb that was purchased from Apole or AT&T within the last 90 days, you may still qualify for free technical support by calling 800-APL-CARE and maybe they can walk you thru.
iTunes on your iPhone is similar to iTunes the website but much easier to find & use stuff. also, ringtones are only available on here, not the website. My favorite search is he word “free” and then whatever I’m interested in by type (music, ringtone, etc) or artist (band, actor, etc). Unlike the website, however, you find apps in the AppStore icon.
iTunes the website confounds many users. it somewhat makes sense after you’ve been using it awhile, but that’s probably when they’ll change something . Here you can find videos, music, and apps. Bazillions of ‘em.
iTunes on your computer is how you manage information to share between your computer and iPhone. It’s also how you maintain your iPhone, such as updating it’s software.
So what does this mean to you?
It means that you may be able to add the media content you already have on your computer into the iTunes on your computer and then sync it with your iPhone. Even if you do it right, however, sometimes stuff won’t transfer or play because of contractual obligations between Apple and the artist.
For more information, go to your Safari browser on the iPhone and open the iPhone User’s Guide bookmark.
