Politician Jesse Jackson Jr., the son of civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson is caught up in another scandal over a possible affair with a woman named Giovana Huidobro. The son of Civil Rights Activist Reveren Jesse Jackson Sr. is making news once again.

Jesse Jackson Jr. first made the national headline, when he caught up in Rod Blagojevich scandal involving a huge sum of $6 million dollars, but this time it is about sexual relationship with Giovana Huidobro, a former bikini model, who is currently working as a restaurant hostess.

Giovana Huidobro is a restaurant hostess and former bikini model who had a relationship with Jesse Jackson Jr.. To be blunt, Jackson Jr. and Huidobro were probably having an intimate affair without the knowledge of his wife Sandi Stevens.

Jesse Jackson Jr. wife Sandi Stevens has no idea about the relations between Giovana Huidobro and Jesse Jackson Jr.

Jackson Jr. apparently asked fund-raiser, Raghuveer Nayak, to pay for Giovana Huidobro to be flown from Washington D.C. to Chicago to be with Jackson on a few occasions.

Jackson Jr. released this statement on his relationship with his “Social Aquaintence” Miss Giovanna Huidobro:

“The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago,” Jackson said. “I ask that you respect our privacy.”

MetroPCS to launch 4G phone before Verizon

MetroPCS to launch 4G phone before Verizon

Monday, March 29, 2010 | 12:09 a.m.

MetroPCS Communications inc. plans to be the first wireless carrier to introduce a phone using a new network technology that provides faster data access. It’s beating Verizon Wireless, the country’s largest carrier.

Samsung Electronics co. said Wednesday that it’s supplying a phone for MetroPCS’ rollout of a wireless technology known as Long Term Evolution, or LTE, starting with cities including Las Vegas in the second half of this year.

Both MetroPCS and Verizon are planning to use LTE, a so-called fourth-generation, or “4G,” wireless technology. Verizon estimates that it will provide data speeds roughly ten times faster than today’s “3G” networks, and that figure will rise as the technology matures.

Verizon is planning to launch LTE in 25 to 30 cities before the end of the year, but the first devices available for it will be laptop modems, with phones coming next year.

Samsung provided no details on its phone for MetroPCS, so it’s unclear if the LTE capability will yield benefits beyond faster Web surfing and movie downloads.

MetroPCS, a Dallas-based carrier that targets customers of modest means, had 6.6 million subscribers at the end of last year, making it the fifth-largest carrier in the country. by contrast, Verizon has 91.2 million subscribers and nationwide coverage.

MetroPCS may have an easier time than Verizon experimenting with LTE because of its smaller size and limited coverage.

On Tuesday, Sprint Nextel Corp. announced that its first 4G phone will be out this summer. the phone will have a front-facing camera to encourage video calling _ one way to exploit the faster 4G speeds.

Sprint isn’t using LTE but a rival 4G technology called WiMax. It’s been available for a few years, but most carriers have opted to wait for LTE instead.

AT&T inc. is planning to start a build-out of LTE next year. In the meantime, it’s focusing on increasing the speeds of its existing 3G network.

PlayStation 3 delay confirmed

PlayStation 3 delay confirmed

Turning Sony around puts Stringer through the ringer When Howard Stringer took over as chairman-CEO of Sony a year ago, he anticipated static from Japan. He didn’t think he’d also catch fire from Germany. nor did he expect that the first Japanese tentpole from Sony Pictures would fail to make a splash in Tokyo.

For Stringer — who spends much of life on planes between Tokyo, Los Angeles, new York and the U.K. where his family lives — there are battlefields in every hemisphere, ferocious debates over content and technology and the need to cut thousands of jobs. Even Stringer’s mother was said to be ticked off at him when he closed a manufacturing plant in his native Wales.

Stringer often looks weary these days, and he’s the first to admit that the whole media landscape is changing.

“The industry forces of fragmentation and competition are all around you,” Stringer says. “You can’t relax.”

He was named chairman-CEO one year ago and formally took the reins last June, replacing former topper Nobuyuki Idei. Idei and a handful of board members were ousted after years of a seemingly inexorable slide at Sony Electronics, a business that makes up 70% of Sony’s $67 billion annual revenue.

When Stringer got the top job, Sony Pictures was mired in one of its worst slumps in years. Sony and a group of financial partners had just inked a complex deal to buy MGM for $5 billion. and tensions were boiling over between the Yanks and the Germans at the recently merged music company Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

“I thought it was a little unfortunate that it wasn’t a more tranquil time for the two entertainment companies,” says the understated Stringer, 64.

In September, Stringer unveiled a massive corporate restructuring, including $2 billion in cost cuts, 10,000 job cuts and a promise to move the needle at the company’s struggling flagship electronics division.

“You get these jobs in tough times, because the times demand some kind of change. So you know you’re going to have tough early years,” Stringer says.

Right off the bat, Stringer wasn’t just running a conglomerate: He’d become a cultural diplomat, morale builder, cheerleader and referee. Japanese managers couldn’t believe they were being fired, studio brass were terrified they’d be out on the street, the music guys wanted to pick each other off.

“You try to say, ‘Stay cool, just hold on,’ ” he says. “You get a big announcement … then you deal with the personnel fallout. for that period, you are very vulnerable.”

At a time when Time Warner and Viacom are dismantling their assets, Stringer must also contend with the question of whether it’s justifiable to preserve Sony as a single corporate entity, given its far-flung business interests. Stringer believes Sony should remain one company, arguing that the conglom’s entertainment brand actually buttresses its hardware brand.

Despite his global travels, Stringer pays regular visits to his Culver City studio, where his presence goes far beyond that of the Sony suit. He is very much the lord of the manor, yet his keen knowledge of film is respected by his executives and by studio filmmakers (he remains board chairman of the American Film Institute).

Beyond being the boss, his cutting wit is relished by studio executives who know he is good for a laugh as well as an insight, or an occasional reprimand. But despite his contagious humor, no one at the studio doubts his strength of will — he can chop heads as readily as he can pass out compliments.

After a contentious 12 months, there are some real signs of progress:

Stringer now says “peace reigns” at Sony BMG Music after a management shuffle that put embattled CEO Andrew Lack in a less prominent role.

In two months, Sony will release the first wave of DVDs in Blu-ray, a format Sony spent years and many millions developing in the hope that it will become the industry standard for the next generation of DVDs.

Even Sony Pictures, which was shell-shocked after a disastrous 2005, is moving into what appears to be a more fecund period, thanks to “The Pink Panther,” “Underworld: Evolution” and “When A Stranger Calls.” “The Da Vinci Code” bows in May and the next James Bond extravaganza, “Casino Royale,” unspools in November.

After a confusing start, the “new” MGM is starting to emerge. The Lion lost 800 jobs after it was sold and was rudderless for months, until billionaire media entrepreneur Harry Sloan was named its chairman-CEO last fall. Rumors were rife of conflict between Sony, which invested $300 million for 20% of the company, and its partners. The largest shareholder is Providence Equity, with 29%.

“You have to figure out how to work out the relationship with private equity companies, a cable company and two studios. and people seem surprised that this isn’t easy,” marvels Stringer. He said Sony never considered buying MGM outright. with the huge electronics biz to turn around, “The company’s priorities would have looked skewed.”

“The MGM deal was done from the top down … and it wouldn’t surprise me, if, two levels down, folks that may not have participated in the construction of the deal probably don’t like it,” explains one person involved in it. “The relationships among the principals are good. down in the trenches, I doubt it.”

MGM plans to develop its own distribution biz under newly hired chief operating officer Rick Sands and find partners — like the Weinstein co. and Lakeshore Entertainment — to make movies. The Lion will declare its strategy March 8, when Sloan hosts a press conference in Los Angeles called “The Lion Roars Again.”

Stringer also found his diplomatic skills sorely tested by his own music division as the BMG half, led by Sony-BMG chairman Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, mutinied, directing their wrath at Lack.

Stringer attributes the problems to a culture clash that plagues many mergers. it was “a highly centralized management (Sony) vs. a highly decentralized management (BMG). We probably should have anticipated it.”

“BMG was extremely successful when they came to the merger, and people say, ‘We were fine. why did we have to do this?’”

With Lack’s contract expiring, BMG wanted him out. many observers thought Stringer would cut the cord. But after months of negotiations, there came an odd resolution. Lack and Schmidt-Holtz would swap jobs, with the German exec taking the higher-octane post.

“I defended Andy because I felt that the anxiety was out of proportion,” Stringer says. “I think it would have been unfair to push Andy aside. He has something to contribute.” It’s not clear, however, what Lack’s new job will entail or, many think, how long he’ll stay.

Now, electronics and games can take center stage, although major questions loom at those divisions as well.

Sony’s new PlayStation 3 was widely expected to be introduced this spring, but will be delayed as the company fine-tunes the chips that are crucial to the success of the console’s Blu-ray function.

The PlayStation 3 — which is being called “the poor man’s Blue-ray” — is vital to Sony’s plans because it plays Blu-ray discs as well as videogames.

Sony will roll out the PS3 by year end, in time for the holidays. If PS3 “delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up,” Stringer boasts.

Blu-ray is the system developed by Sony to view next-generation high-definition DVDs. Rival format HD DVD is championed by Toshiba. Microsoft recently joined the HD DVD camp, a move that came as its Xbox 360 videogame console is trying to grab market share from PlayStation, the industry leader.

Software makers, electronics firms and Hollywood studios have lined up behind one or the other, or both.

For Sony, the stakes of the rivalry are colossal. The new discs are seen as a way to energize flattening DVD sales. Both the systems also make movies harder to pirate.

Some believe Stringer is betting the company on Blu-ray. The technology is more advanced than HD DVD and would allow the players to incorporate interactive features and others still to be developed. But HD DVD is easier to manufacture and the boxes will be cheaper.

Stringer, and just about every other media exec, studio chief and retailer, fears a Betamax-VHS redux — a format war that would irritate and confuse consumers. After all, if folks don’t know which player to buy, they might walk out empty-handed. “If that happens,” one top entertainment exec quips, “I think someone from Wal-Mart is going to take a gun and shoot one of them.”

“Once Microsoft picked sides it was clear we were going to be in a battle royale,” Stringer says, vowing to protect his turf. “We won’t be stampeded” by Microsoft into rushing decisions “that are there forever.”

One strange twist in the battle is that Toshiba is working with Sony and IMB to produce the cell chip that’s the foundation of Blu-ray — a topsy-turvy scenario that only serves to underscore the contortions Stringer finds himself performing these days. “One day my enemy is my enemy,” he says. “The next day the enemy is my friend.”

Meanwhile, Stringer continues to wrestle with consumer electronics, a hydra that produces some well over 2,000 devices, and that’s struggling to emerge from a decade-long decline.

He’s made some bold moves in electronics, eliminating product lines — like the cult favorite Aibo dog robot — and has focused on “champion” categories, like flat-screen LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs.

With its latest LCD model, the Bravia, Sony has clawed its way back from fourth place to first worldwide. Stringer changed management at the division and gave TV group chief Katsumi Ihara the go ahead to start ramping up branding and marketing.

Sony insiders point to the LCD turnaround as evidence of the residual power and strength of the Sony brand.

Stringer relies heavily on his deputy, Sony prexy Ryoji Chubachi, who oversees electronics. “My job would be impossible without someone with that kind of experience.”

After all, he’s no techie. Stringer doesn’t even carry a BlackBerry, preferring to send his lieutenants text messages via cell phone.

Stringer even waxes nostalgic about the shift from film to videotape. “I liked film. I liked holding it in my hand and looking at it frame by frame.”

But Stringer, who once worked as a network TV documentary producer, bridled when a Japanese reporter dismissed him as “a former journalist” in a story that cast doubt on his fitness to lead Sony. The last time he was a working journalist was 1983-84, he points out. He spent nine years at Sony Corp. of America before becoming chairman-CEO.

In Tokyo, Stringer is involved in a number of activities that don’t hit the radar Stateside. As part of cost cutting, he recently led an effort by senior management to eliminate “advisor” positions — former Sony brass who had enjoyed continuing salaries, offices and perks. The move, a radical one in Japan, effected 45 former execs. He has sold a makeup company, a retailer and a restaurant chain Sony owned, along with other non-strategic businesses.

He signed a three-year contract, renewable for two years, if he can take the monstrous travel schedule for that long.

Is his job impossible? Some think it may be.

“I don’t think anyone could do a better job,” says Jonathan Nelson, CEO of Providence Equity. “The Sony cadre around him are intensely loyal and would do anything they could to help him succeed. He is the unusual kind of person who engenders that feeling in his business.”

What if, back when he was making documentaries at CBS, someone had told him that one day he’d be running Sony Corp.?

Stringer doesn’t hesitate to answer. “I would have said I’m perfectly happy making documentaries.”

The car with a gadget that guarantees green traffic lights

By Miles Goslett
Last updated at 10:03 AM on 22nd October 2008

They’re the bane of city drivers everywhere: those traffic lights that invariably turn to red just as you approach, making even the shortest journey a stop-start affair.

But now a German car-maker has come to the rescue – with a device that ensures you can always arrive at a light when it is green.

the in-car gadget tells drivers how fast to go in order to sail through a junction by ‘speaking’ to special transmitters fitted inside a traffic signal that can be up to 300 yards away.

How the device will beat the red light queues

It arrives at the calculation after plotting the car’s position and approach route, then displays the optimum speed on a screen.

Audi, which has developed the device called Travolution, claims extensive trials have been so successful that in one phase of testing, cars nearly always hit a light on green.

the car-maker also says the system will benefit the environment by cutting exhaust emissions because fewer cars will be stationary at lights – and it will improve fuel economy by ending stop-start inefficiency.

But it admits the technology will not benefit the driver if the roads are particularly clogged.

Travolution works on Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technology and can be fitted to any car make.

the AA said the device – which is not yet in mass production – could be vital in meeting new European Union emissions standards. the motoring organisation added: ‘This could be an extremely useful tool for reducing CO2 and saving motorists money. However, it will need to be tested thoroughly in many real and different types of traffic conditions to ensure there are no problems with other drivers.’

during two years of tests in Audi’s home town of Ingolstadt, Bavaria, 46 ‘intelligent’ sets of traffic lights were programmed to connect wirelessly with an Audi A5 coup and A6 Avant estate carrying Travolution.

one test involving three busy junctions found that drivers were hardly ever made to stop on red, according to the car-maker.

Travolution was initially developed by the Technical University of Munich in conjunction with traffic technology firm GEVAS.

Professor Fritz Busch, of the university, said: ‘The new approaches to network-wide control of traffic lights, together with communication between traffic lights and intelligent cars, exploits a potential for improving traffic flows that has previously gone untapped.’

Kate Dixon of Audi UK said that if a minimum of ten per cent of cars in any given town were fitted with the technology, all road users would notice an improvement in traffic levels.

Ms Dixon added: ‘Obviously, if the traffic is solid then Travolution won’t assist you. But if the traffic is moving slowly then it will advise you what speed to maintain in order to avoid stopping.’

Audi said it was too early to say how much the device would cost if it is put into mass production. further tests are expected next year.

Will this encourage drivers to speed up? Tell us your view below.

won’t it be dangerous to approach the lights at speed, i was taught to gradully slow down as i approached the lights. people will be watching the instrument in the car and less aware of hazards. this device sounds dangerous.

Of course slashing the number of useless traffic lights would go much further toward reducing pollution in the UK & EU. But that would be much too simple for our stupid planners to understand.

And what will happen if two cars travelling on different roads approach a cross road which both have traffic lights

This may sound silly but in Thailand where i have been this vacation they just have clock/countdown signs next to the traffic lights that counts down to red and to green. only problem there is that people started to drive at 05 sec. before green. And where driving faster to make it accros on time.

Like oliver , i have also manged to approach the lights on a controlled speed so that it goes green when you reach there. but when you do it i have always found that guy behind me will gets impatient and overtakes me upsetting the plan. as someone said here , it may not work if the exits are blocked by cars in the box area.

Did Steve Jobs confirm MacBook Pro updates via e-mail?

the MacBook fans are getting restless, as evidenced by the ongoing hand-wringing about possible updates to the popular laptop line. After all, the last overhaul of the aluminum MacBook Pro line came way back in June 2009. Since the start of 2010, with a new family of Intel CPUs to draw from, many have said the time seems perfect for some new components, if not a new outright design.

Perhaps more importantly, it seems that Apple’s Steve Jobs has taken to e-mailing curt answers to some of the inquires he receives from fans. none of these typically monosyllabic responses can be confirmed as actually coming from Jobs (although some have been published with convincing-looking header info), but they’re widely reported, and seem to be in line with the company’s thinking.

According to MacRumors.com, a reader of that site reports that he contacted Jobs via e-mail to say, “I recognize the need for secrecy, etc., but I am really losing heart in the lack of vision for the MBP and Mac Pros. Not expecting a response but as someone who has personally switched dozens of people onto the Mac way, this is a sad e-mail for me to compose.”

The purported single-line response was, “Not to worry.”

Naturally, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but if that is an actual Jobs response (no word on if it was sent from his iPad), it seems that the clamoring hordes of MacBook fans may have something to look forward to in the near future.

Secrets of Self Taught Web Developers: 115 Resource to Help Develop the Web

Secrets of Self Taught Web Developers: 115 Resource to Help Develop the Web

by Eric Hebert

Go ahead and grab a blanket, and cover your head with it in fear of the chilling proposition I will lay before you today. yes, you may shriek in horror when the thought of doing your own programming creeps into your innocent mind. however, you must have faith my young child, for many in the past have stepped in front of the face of terror, turned on a computer, and learned the secret code of programming the web all by themselves!

Take a minute to gather yourself. I know the task seems daunting, but it can be done. you will need all the courage and strength you posses deep within your spirit to achieve the goals that have been laid out before you. however, if you follow the path that many righteous men have followed in the past, you will bask in the same glory that they have and gain control over your web publishing projects that only mere mortals could ever imagine.

Imagine a place where every object on a web page bows its head and calls you master. Every table, every header file, every color; anything your creative mind can conjure can and will happen because of your wonderful abilities to program a website. like a golden android from a distant galaxy, you’ll be fluent in various forms of online communication, able to decipher web pages to their bitter core. People will flock soak up your gleaming light of knowledge, begging for your insight into how to make their websites function better.

Getting started on your journey may just be the hardest part. The first thing you are going to need to do is understand the basic principles of HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language). The W3C describes HTML as the “lingua franca” for web publishing, a phrase used to describe a language that is widely used and very influential. they have set up “schools” for you to begin your education of the programming language. use the W3C as your “home base” once you begin your mission; there you will learn the basics.

However, HTML can’t do everything; for more elaborate web programming missions, you’re going to need to learn some more sophisticated languages. are the many different programming languages that exist, and which ones you will need to know in order to take on certain tasks. The ability to use search engines properly will prove invaluable as you begin your studies. Some of these may include:

To help you get started, you may want to visit an introductory tutorial that will help you learn to program. hopefully you’ll be on your way to experimenting with code and the wonderful subculture that comes with it. just be warned; once you take up the challenge and climb into the pool of programming, you’re casting yourself off in a sea of wonder and mystery. The waters may be rough and there’s no turning back. however, you’ll find the voyage to be a very beneficial addition to your talents and abilities.

Software

One of the first steps taken by many would-be programmers is the purchase or download of HTML editing software. many programmers start off using a WYSIWYG editor such as Frontpage and then graduate to more professional programs such as Dreamweaver. this phase is a first baby step into the world of web development; use it to learn from, but don’t rely on these programs to build your sites forever. A real programmer programs; the job should not require a software program. In the future, their only use will act as a guide for you to build with.

FTP Programs

If you want to see what your work looks like on the web, you’re gonna need a way for it to get there. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) programs act as your transportation from your desktop to the server, where your files will reside on the web. Both paid and open-source options exist for you; pick your own ride.

Photos, Videos, & Graphic

Once you get started with web publishing, you’ll immediately begin wondering how to manipulate photos, videos, and graphics to add to your sites. While adding and formatting text is a rather easy task, doing the same with images is not. You’ll need to pick up some software and spend some time looking for pictures and learning tricks. Master this process and give your web projects a professional and creative look. Videos won’t be too difficult; many of the video sharing sites provide the code for you to embed their videos right into your web page.

Online Forums

Perhaps one of the most important aspects of the web development community is the thousands of programmers who participate on online forums. Without these individuals, the ability to learn aspects of programming websites would be significantly more difficult. Forums are a great place to ask questions about problems you are having and usually, these questions have already been answered by individuals in the past. make sure to mind your manners, however; these communities have rules and if you decide to not abide by them, you’ll lose out on all the wonderful resources they have to offer to you.

Online College Courses

Not everyone attends online colleges just to get a degree; many will enroll only to take a few classes to brush up on technical skills, especially in the fields of web programming and development. Take some time to check out the courses offered at some of the more technical online colleges. While you may develop a skill in one area of programming, these colleges offer courses that will help you in your efforts to master other programming languages. If you’re still just picking up the initial HTML skills, taking a course may help you understand it better so you can jump in to building pages and getting your feet wet. Either way, don’t rule out a few online courses to help you in your quest.

Web Development News

With the advent of the Internet, it’s possible to stay on top of news in a any subject category, and web development has plenty of resources. with everything on the web changing at such a fast rate, you’ll want to stay on top of as much news as possible to ensure you’re using up to date software, languages, and methods. using RSS is a great way to browse news stories, articles, updates, and more from the industries leading web development news sites.

Books & Publications

Now listen; you’re going to go crazy spending all that time in front of a computer screen all day long. You’re bound to be pale as a ghost from all the time you’ve spent in doors, so it’s time to take a leave of absence from your computer and get out for a change. that doesn’t mean you have to give up learning your favorite programming language. Grab some books from some of the industries most trusted sources and grab a seat under that tree. Nothings more glorious than a warm sun, some shade, and a PHP cookbook for those long summer days.

Tutorials, Cheatsheets, & E-Books

Learning how to program would not be possible without the painstaking work of those who came before you. Not only did these courageous individuals put the time and enery into learning how to program themselves, they had the honor of teaching their art through a number of free tutorials available online. here you will learn everything from the most simplest of HTML commands to the most difficult of Ruby applications. Those who have contributed to the underworld of programming tutorials will forever be part of the some of the most important contributors to the web. Without them, we simply would not have come as far as we have today.

Directories

While we have discussed many of the important resources that exist to help you in your journey, these are by no means the end of the well. There’s millions of web pages out there that can assist you in the quest; drop by these web development directories to add a magnifying glass and look deeper into a number of programming subjects.

Open Source Design & Software

One of the most beautiful aspects of learning various programming languages is the large number of examples that exist online, many of them open-source. from simple web site templates to complex software programs, the open source movement has given us the ability to instantly implement a language and then learn that language by using it.

When learning the basics of HTML, using open-source website templates are a great way to learn almost every aspect. You’ll start by actually using these templates to make a website (and probably show it off and act like you wrote the code yourself). Then little by little, you’ll begin to hack certain parts of the layout and tweak aspects of the CSS style sheets. this trial and error process will be frustrating at times, but will prove to be a good way to see how different elements of code work together to construct o a web page.

Using blogging software has now become a must if planning on updating a web page on a regular basis. Much like using web templates, software such as Wordpress will loosen you up when it comes to learning PHP. After you begin to understand the nature of dynamic web publishing, you’ll then want to step up to other more sophisticated content management systems to continue your learning, again from hacking any open-source software and learning from trial and error.

Toolbars & Plug-ins

You’ll find that after you actually know what you’re doing, these tool bar add-ons and plug-ins will assist you in research and code implementation. these are especially important for the novice programmer who constantly reviews other sites to better understand specific code.

Web Validation

When you begin to play around with publishing pages to the web, you’ll soon find out that there is such a thing as a “clean” web page and or course “dirty” web pages. The W3C jumps into action here with two kinds of validators: one for traditional browsers and one for mobile applications. You’ll often find errors whn checking web pages in these validators; fixing the suggested code will only help you become more efficient at learning but also in preventing similar errors on the future, making your web pages more professional by being W3C compliant.

Dynamic Web Development Tools & Libraries

Once you get down and dirty with programming, you’ll be ready to move up in the ranks and become all that you can be. You’ll find plenty of partners online who have provided you libraries of written code that you can use and modify to use for your projects. As the world further embraces open-source and sharing, the more programming becomes easier and more accessible. Even large, billion dollar companies like Google are understanding these computing concepts and are helping the community by sharing it’s own technology, creating a large happy family of programmers.

By now you should be so engrossed in the programming and development world, you’ll need to keep daily tabs on what others in the industry are doing. because their are so many different aspects of this industry, you’ll have to find blogs that are not only informative and cover information you need to keep up on, but also speak in a way that keeps you engaged and entertained. Take the time to explore the blogosphere and find your voices.

Participating in Communities

You probably have reached the point where your programming skills have produced some entertaining web sites and projects. You’ll need to start sharing your works with various communities online. they are full of web developers like yourself who are also sharing their own projects. these communities provide a fantastic opportunity not only to learn new techniques and stay on top of news, but to network with others who share similar interests. It is also possible to use these networks to build a reputation and promote your talents.

Work Experience

At this point, you’re probably hungry to get out and work with other developers. Web programming is absolutely a team sport, and working your way into an apprenticeship or entry-level job will be your next step in becoming a master programmer. It will also be refreshing to get paid for all the long hours you have spent learning about web development up to this point. hopefully you’ve accumulated enough skills and those skills show in your resume of sites and projects to land you the perfect programming opportunity.

Well, my young apprentice, you now posses the power to change the web, and the world. As web publishing becomes a larger part of the media industry, and the Internet becomes more of a part of our daily lives, the ability to develop websites and web based programs becomes ever so important. The knowledge the web programmer possesses is invaluable in a world that seldom understands the inner workings of the technology surrounding them. be wary, for with great power comes great responsibility; many will call upon you to use your powers for evil. Stand strong and do the best you can, and help honor the soldiers who helped you learn by spreading the joys of web development by helping program the future of the web.

Sony Does 180, Removes “Other OS” Feature from PS3

Sony Does 180, Removes “Other OS” Feature from PS3

The PlayStation 3 Slim already had an ability penalty of -35 Geekiness because of its lack of the “Install other OS” option, and now the regular PlayStation 3 will follow in its footsteps. a PS3 firmware update, scheduled to land April 1, will disable this option on regular PS3s as well. this, dear readers, is what we in the business call a “testicle move”, especially since only a few weeks ago, Sony bold-facedly claimed the feature would not be removed.

Even though the firmware update will be pushed out April 1, it most certainly isn’t a joke. the update, version 3.21, has as its prime change the removal of the “Install other OS” option, and for the rest doesn’t seem to do a whole lot. Sony cites “security concerns” as the prime reason.

“The next system software update for the PlayStation 3 system will be released on April 1, 2010, and will disable the ‘Install other OS’ feature that was available on the PS3 systems prior to the current slimmer models, launched in September 2009,” writes Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media, “This feature enabled users to install an operating system, but due to security concerns, Sony Computer Entertainment will remove the functionality through the 3.21 system software update.”

Seybold continues, “In addition, disabling the ‘Other OS’ feature will help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system.”

And thus our true colours reveal. this of course has nothing to do with security concerns; this is all about appeasing the content providers, who apparently aren’t comfortable with users possibly having access to their content stored on PS3 hard drives through systems not in check by Sony (Linux). Sony, itself a content provider, happily dances to that tune.

This means that those who bought their PlayStation 3 because of this specific option are pretty much being screwed by Sony (one of the world’s larger providers of free screws). you might think, well, how about we skip this update, but that’s not an option if you want to continue to have access to the PlayStation Network, which includes access to content like games and films, as well as multiplayer abilities.

Once again, Sony pulls a testicle move, especially considering how only a few weeks ago, the company assured its customers the feature would not be removed. “Please be assured that SCE is committed to continue the support for previously sold models that have the ‘Install other OS’ feature and that this feature will not be disabled in future firmware releases,” said Sony’s Geoff Levand, PS3-Linux maintainer.

Yes, that’s how much Sony’s word is worth.

Manga to Dramas

Manga to Dramas

They were once hit manga series turned to anime, to dramas, till they go for the big screen. There’s no stopping to the Asian culture dominating the world through their shows especially their story line-up.

Since they became hit cartoon series, public records search shows Anime began touching that more mature side giving something tangible both for the young and the adults. even dramas have been tackled in animation with those big eyes from Japanese animators that gives more emotions compared to those done by western animators (except for Walt Disney that seem to adapt this in their animated films). however this manga/anime is getting more pumped up as viewers began to demand more than just moving drawings.

Enter the film and the real thing-skin flesh, most actors and actresses seem to go for that inkling sensation to reach stardom by portraying that hit character in an animated show. At present there have been many Japanese shows that people find to be focused in this concept starting with the hit series GTO and Gokusen. last July came a smashing hit that also captured kids and the kid at heart with the action pack thriller Blood the last Vampire.

Japanese ideals to visuals and fight scenes are really rolling that even Dragon Ball got the chance to be shown in the big screens. but the most awaited is still to hit this summer of 2010. The last Airbender the story of the Avatar Aang. The fight against the fire nation is on and there’s no stopping this film from being watched.

Loving the Avatar: The last Airbender may get the people who love this totally excited. however it’s not just the story that people may have to look forward to. It’s a star studded cast as the characters will be played by known young stars starting off with Jackson Rathbone of Twilight (he was Jasper), Dev Petel of Slumdog Millionaire, and Nicola Peltz of Deck the Halls. The role of Aang will be more realistic when it comes to martial arts action as Noah Ringer, a Texan 12 year old Taekwondo champion will be playing the role. this is a sure fun filled action packed film that the family (especially the kids) will enjoy. The Avatar is a must see movie for the whole family.

Manga has truly evolved our way of viewing. this is definitely given more color to the shows we once enjoyed.

Microsoft: Blu-ray costs holding PS3 back

Microsoft: Blu-ray costs holding PS3 back

I just did some calculations of the number of units sold compared to the number of days the console has been available (source wiki)

360 – launched November 22, 2005 – until January 6, 2010 – units sold 39m
39,000,000 / 1506 days = 25896.414 consoles per day

PS3 – launched November 17, 2006 – until December 31, 2009 – units sold 33.5m
33,500,000 / 1140 days = 29385.964 consoles per day (13.475% more per day than 360)

Once the PS3 has been on the market for 1506 days (like the XBOX in the comparison above) at the current rate Sony will have sold 44,255,261m PS3 consoles in the same time scale.

Fast forward 1 year…
360 = 1871 days x 25896.414 = 48,452,190m consoles
PS3 = 1505 days x 29385.964 = 44,225,875m consoles

Fast forward another year…
360 = 2236 days x 25896.414 = 57,904,381m consoles
PS3 = 1870 days x 29385.964 = 54,951,752m consoles

Of course – the sales figures won’t be linear – and the dates in the wiki pages show different launch dates/unit sold dates in the different territories. I believe world wide sales are showing that the PS3 is outselling 360 in most markets (except the North America).

What also muddy’s the waters somewhat is the crazy failure rate of the 360 at 23.7%, while the PS3 stands at 10% (http://uk.gamespot.com/images/6216691/xbox-360-failure-rate-237-ps3-10-wii-27-study/1/?path=2009%2F244%2Fsquaretrade_1_29779_screen.jpg&caption=Historically%252C%2Bthe%2B360%2Bis%2Bmore%2Bthan%2Btwice%2Bas%2Blikely%2Bto%2Bfail%2Bas%2Bits%2Brivals.&blog=1&cvr=mxC%2F). Without knowing how many of the faulty machines have been replaced it’s difficult to judge what affect that has on the number of active 360’s or PS3’s.

If you were to imagine that none of the faulty consoles were replaced and just discarded – the figures would look quite alarming for the 360.

360 = 29,757,000m active units
PS3 = 30,150,000m active units

What is also interesting is the number of modded XBOX 360’s out there. Microsoft have recently banned an estimated 600,000 users (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8354166.stm), and some sources estimate 1m users. I know there people out there who have bought a second 360 because they can’t play online with their modded console.

How many active 360’s are there out there – who knows. what I do know is that the number of active 360’s compared to PS3’s is a lot closer than the sales figure suggest.

@bowz”Yeah no time at all” *sarcSince you have to enter the digits in manually and would have to check each combination to see that it worked. Brute force could take a very long time.Assuming you could check each combination of digits 0 – 9 (that’s 10 digits) with repeats possible. That’s 1,000,000 combinations.

10*10*10*10*10*10 = 1,000,000

We’ll say it takes 30 secs. to enter in the combination and verify it.

That’s potentially 30,000,000 secsor500,000 minutesor 8,333 hoursor347 days

Of course you might just get lucky. but I’m not going to waste a year of my life trying to get at your pr0n.

10 Things Netbooks still do better than an iPad

10 Things Netbooks still do better than an iPad

@MastrCake You can upgrade ram, and the hard drive, or SSD if you wanted, you can upgrade the screen if you wanted to, plus you could do all of that for less than some of the iPad models.

Swapping batteries, I never use up all of the power in my battery, but its nice to know that if I needed to I could because who knows the battery may start to die, just like an iPod of mine did, and I could never use it as it should it had to be plugged in all the time. It is nice to be able to switch batteries even if you don’t need to in a single day.

A netbook keyboard is generally just 92% of a full-size keyboard, not much difference besides the type of keys, which can change between any computer or laptop.

CD Drive: I can do a lot of installing by way of CDs on my netbook – Photoshop, video converters, video games, tons of stuff and it runs them all great!

Programming: I’m running Windows 7, I’ve ran Vista, I’ve ran Linux, on my netbook and I can program in each of them.

And as all the people that can read saw, there is no camera attachment for the iPad, its just for importing pictures, no camera, no video chats, no skype, no iChat even. Just for transferring.

The list remains at 10. You don’t even sound like you own a netbook, so please don’t bash them, and no I don’t own a iPad but judging from the specs against my netbook, I agree that Scott has some points.
